Colin James Black HOSCHKE was born on 5 Oct 1916 and died on 28 Nov 2003, at age 87.

Colin epitomised an old-fashioned country lad, the youngest and third son of George and Elizabeth. He completed his Leaving Certificate, joined the CBC bank and worked in country areas of NSW before settling in Sydney. He was married to Edna (Teddie) Jones for 63 years and had four children, Noel, Velda and twins Sharon and Janis.

Colin’s favourite pursuits were helping others, joy of creating and constructing items out of wood and his wonderful garden full of vegetables and flowers. He was an incredible storyteller who could relate stories from his experiences at Upper Orara with such amazing detail that the yarns seemed to flow endlessly.

Colin touched the hearts of everyone who he came in contact with and as one neighbour told me, “our lives have been enriched by knowing such a warm, loving and generous man”. He led a very full and healthy life of 88 years.

Colin married Edna ‘Teddy” JONES, daughter of James Daniel JONES and Violet Agnes WILSON, in 1941 in Casino, Nsw.  They had four children: Noel, Velda, Sharon, and Janis.
